Salcombe-Kingsbridge Estuary Management Plan review process

The formal review of the 2005 estuary management plan started with the Salcombe-Kingsbridge Conservation Forum meeting on the 9th June 2010.

The purpose of the review

  • To take stock of what the estuary management plan had achieved over the last 5 years.
  • To make an informed decision about the need and desire to review the plan or to hold the current plan for a further 5 years.
  • To propose a renewed and updated set of actions and policies for the conservation management of the estuary over the next 5 years.
  • To restyle the themes and layout of the management plan so that it fits better into the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) management plan.
  • To ensure that the management plan was fit for purpose for informing the local development of the areas Marine Plan following the adoption of the Marine Policy Statement by the Marine Management Organisation.
