Type of event Woodland practical tasks

The Woodland Trust is setting up regular volunteer work days in the Avon Valley Woods to involve local people in helping to care for these woods.

Come along to one of these fun taster days and have a go at some traditional woodland tasks like coppicing, to decide if you’d like to join our regular volunteer group.

In the first few sessions we’ll be undertaking essential path and ride-side management in the recently planted woods to create a more mixed woodland structure. You’ll spend the day learning the ancient craft of coppicing alongside our professional local woodsman and ecologist, Dave Barker. You will also be improving access for people and creating more diverse habitats for wildlife.

You are welcome to come along to a couple of sessions to try it out. Then if you decide you want to join the regular working group, we’ll sign you up as a Woodland Trust Volunteer.
