Would you like to make a fabulous piece of outdoor art? Cleaving a giant oak by hand and wielding tools used by Viking boatbuilders? If yes, join Sharpham Trust's outdoor arts project starting in March 2017!
Artist Peter Lanyon is looking for up to 8 volunteers (aged 16+) to help him build a large green oak bench over the course of 7 days in March and April 2017. Volunteers will work outside on the beautiful Sharpham Estate with traditional wood-working tools under the expert tuition of Peter. A reasonable level of fitness and strength is required for this project, particularly for the first two days. Please wear sensible clothes and sturdy footwear for working outdoors.
At the end of the 7 days the group will help install the bench at a beautiful spot for all to enjoy, along the Carriage Drive between Sharpham House and Totnes. There will be a celebration at the end of the project.
Days 1 & 2: Thursday 2nd & Friday 3rd March
Day 3: Friday 10th March
Day 4: Friday 17th March
Day 5: Friday 24th March
Day 6 & 7: Thursday 20th and Friday 21st April
Each day will run from 10am to 4pm, all under the expert tuition of Peter Lanyon – we will provide refreshments and a simple lunch.
For more information and to book see www.sharphamtrust.org/calendar/course/sharpham-green-oak-bench-project or email Maya on email@example.com or call 01803 731802.
Places will be allocated on a first-come-first serve basis, but we will give priority to volunteers who can commit to most or all of the sessions listed above.
