Find out why the Avon Valley is such a great place for bats to hang out! The bats may be hibernating but we can still be active. Join staff from the bat project and South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on a ‘hibernation hike’ in the beautiful Avon Valley countryside. This walk will show you many of the habitats that bats love to use.
You will learn what local landowners are doing to improve the habitats for the bats. In addition you will enjoy a walk from the river valley up onto the tops where you get fantastic views out across the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The walk is a moderately easy 2.5 miles, with a steep climb up out of the valley.
If you’d like to book lunch at the garden centre café on our return, please arrive at 9.30am to place your order ready for our return at midday. After that why not spend some time browsing the large selection of plants as well as the shops and gallery. Perhaps you could buy some bat friendly wildflowers to plant at home.
