Walks & trails

There are over 50 walks across South Devon AONB  to download here for free. They range in length from 2 to 12 miles and include a map, details of facilities and access as well as information on wildlife, archaeology and history.

These 19  walks devised with the assistance of The South West Coast Path Association,   are listed withn one section. There is the option of downloading the map with walk route, directions and a brief description onto a smart phone for ease of navigation, or downloading the pdf with additional information.

These new walking routes were made possible thanks to support from the South Devon Coastal Local Action Group and funding from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe investing in rural areas LEADER programme.

Salcombe to Snapes Point (10/08/12)

Distance: 4.5 miles (Shorter route 2.75 miles)
Grade: Moderate

This lovely tranquil mosey winds around sleepy creeks and fingers of land nosing out into the lapping waters, with brilliant and surprising views to keep your senses sharp.

The River Erme: Ivybridge to Ermington (10/08/12)

Distance: 7.5 miles
Grade: Moderate

A lovely wander following the valley of the River Erme, in an area where the wild beauty of the moor and the mellow delights of rolling South Devon meet and merge.

Torcross and Stokenham: Man and the Landscape (10/08/12)

Distance: 6 miles
Grade: Moderate

Totnes and Dartington (10/08/12)

Distance: 6 miles
Grade: Moderate

On this walk of fabulous country scenery, the river Dart is the lovely thread which connects Totnes and the Dartington Estate, both places with a fascinating past and vibrant present.

Totnes Town Trail (10/08/12)

Distance: 1 mile
Grade: Gentle to Moderate

A walk through Totnes' narrow streets to discover a town crammed full of history. This walk can be extended by following the River Dart to nearby Dartington along the riverside path.

Wembury and Bovisand (10/08/12)

Distance: 8 miles
Grade: Moderate

An atmospheric walk full of marine life and maritime history. The long reaches of blue sea give way to green fields and dells on the pleasant inland roll home.

Wembury to Plymouth: Coast in Conflict (10/08/12)

Distance: 12 miles
Grade: Strenuous
