The South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB Unit ) has launched its’ new programme of outdoor activities from April - October 2014.
The guide includes over 80 events organised by the AONB Unit and partner organisations such as The National Trust, Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust, Devon Wildlife Trust, Slapton Ley Field Centre and The Sharpham Trust. They range from outdoor adventure activities, wildlife watching, beach cleans, courses and walks
The AONB Unit is also organising the brand new Dart Estuary Quest which will run throughout July and August - a fun family activity exploring the lower Dart – Dittisham, Greenway, Dartmouth and Kingswear. Follow the clues and find the quest boxes to complete the challenges. Details will be on the website from mid June.
The 2014 Explorer also includes ideas for days out in the AONB, getting out and about without your car and an update on current AONB projects. The booklet is available from Information Centre’s, libraries and shops various tourist businesses and online at www.southdevonaonb.org.uk
The South Devon AONB is a special designation denoting the stunning natural beauty and distinctive landscape of the area; it covers 130 square miles (337 square kilometres) of coastline, estuaries, and countryside. AONBs are landscapes which are considered so precious they are protected for the nation.
