Telling Our Story: South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty unit (28/11/12)

South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty unit is one of the first groups in the UK to receive a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) All Our Stories grant, it was announced today. This exciting project “Living off the Land – the changing face of farming in South Devon” led by the South Devon AONB unit has been given £9,700 to examine farming in South Devon,  focussing on how things have changed over the past  50 years, changes in farm size  and in traditional family farms.

Winter Coast and Countryside Events programme out now - activities for all the family! (05/11/12)

There are lots of opportunities to get out and enjoy something new or to be creative.  New events include canoeing on the Salcombe- Kingsbridge Estuary looking at the birdlife, making your own ‘green’ Christmas decorations  from the hedgerow and garden and a  coastal walk with breakfast celebrating ‘Farmhouse Breakfast week’ in January.  Other events include a variety of themed walks from archaeology  and history to wildlife, and activities such as farm trails and wildflower gardening. All of these events are aimed at helping local residents and visitors to enjoy the AONB and gain a better understanding of what makes South Devon such a special place. Great South West Walk coming in 2013 - putting 40 years of love back into the SW Coast path (31/10/12)

The South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty team is taking part in a special event to celebrate the SW Coast Path Association’s 40th anniversary next Spring. The ‘Great South West Walk’ will help fund improvement projects all along the route in Cornwall, Devon Dorset and Somerset. The walk along the South Devon AONB coast will start from Berry Head on Monday 15th April and finish in Mount Batten Plymouth  on Saturday 20th April.The South West Coast Path Association will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2013. To mark this landmark, they are encouraging people to take part in The Great South West Walk, raising funds to give the path some much needed tender loving care

Dartmouth Food Festival - (10/10/12)

Come and find us at the food festival on the South Embankment, celebrating our Outstanding Landscape and it’s Outstanding Food.

Find out about the variety  local products from this protected landscape.  Tell us about your favourite food and drink from the area.

We will be there from Friday to Sunday  with  tastings of Sharpham Savour our very own cheese created by Sharpham Creamery a  mixture of cows milk and goats milk, displays, information on buying sustainable fish, activities and our Big Draw Patchwork!
