Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game that is currently being played all over the world! It is open to anyone with a sense of adventure and a love for their landscape. Explore your environment and hunt for treasure using clues, maps and GPS co-ordinates.
Twelve geocaches have been placed in a variety of locations along 6 established walks in the AONB; however, prepare to go off the beaten track to hunt for the treasure! They provide a great opportunity to get out and about along the coastline, through the river valleys and in and around some of your local towns. They form part of a postgraduate project researching your landscape and what it means to you. For added fun visit all the caches to collect letters and discover our secret password phrase! The longer the walk the more letters you will gain!
The walks and trails include; Noss Mayo and Revelstoke Drive, the Avon Estuary Walk, Little Dartmouth and Dartmouth Castle, Torcross, Kingsbridge to Bowcombe Creek and the Greenway Walk. See the ‘Walks and Trails’ page of the AONB website for information on the route, parking options, great places to stop along the way and much more…
Your views, opinions, responses to the questionnaire and photos are vital to the success of this project! For more information on the exact locations of the caches and the GPS coordinates that will be required to find them please visit www.geocaching.com and search for the ‘Your South Devon AONB Landscape’ series.
