South Milton Sands Thurlestone near Kingsbridge, Saturday 14th September 2019 4pm - 9:30pm.
Come and discover the nightlife of the AONB and all about our amazing seas and coastline! Rockpooling, treasure hunts, snorkelling, water sports taster sessions, storytelling, sundown yoga, beach games and crafts! Bring a torch, warm clothes and a clean jam jar if you would like to make a lantern. Bring your tea or visit the Beach House cafe.
Some activities will be going on throughout the evening, whilst others will happen at specified times. The events are suitable for all ages.
Rockpooling - meet the residents of the intertidal zone with AONB team / National Trust Rangers. Drop in 4 - 5.30pm
Glow in the dark beach yoga at Sunset - with Simply Soulful Yoga. All abilities welcome, bring mat or towel (£5). 6.45 - 7.30pm (register 6.30pm)
Snorkelling for beginners - with National Trust. Wetsuit needed / weather dependant (£3). Book in at gazebo, 8yrs+. 4.30pm & 5.30pm
Stories around the fire - Early evening children's stories with Bearskin Storytelling 5 - 6pm. Children’s stories turning darker as the sun goes down! 8.30pm - 9.30pm
Kayak and stand up paddle board - Special short have-a-go 15min sessions with Surfin Sam (£4) 4pm - dusk
Hula hooping - Can you do the hula? Now is your chance to have a go! 4pm - 6pm
Saving Our Seas Sundown Parade - Meet by the gazebos with your lanterns to take our creatures safely back to the sea! 8.15pm
AONB / National Trust activities - drop in anytime during daylight:
It gets VERY DARK on this beach - it is why we are here! Please keep safe and make sure that when the sun drops you keep your children close to you. RNLI lifeguards will be on duty during the event. Big Night Out reflective slap bands will be available from the AONB gazebo for a suggested donation of £1 - great for being seen when the sun goes down.
