
Big Night Out on the Beach!
South Milton Sands Thurlestone near Kingsbridge, Saturday 13th September 4pm - 10pm. Come and discover the nightlife of the AONB! Rockpooling, bird walk, treasure hunts, kayak and stand-up-paddle board sessions, storytelling, beach sports and stargazing! Feast on goodies from the Beach House cafe or bring your own supper. Bring your binoculars, torch and warm clothes and a clean jam jar if you would like to make a lantern
Programme
Some activities will be going on throughout the evening, whilst others will happen at specified times. The events are suitable for all ages.
Rockpooling - meet the residents of the intertidal zone! Drop in AONB team / National Trust Rangers 4 - 5.30pm
Bird walk on the Marshes 5pm: Devon Bird Group
Beach Sports! 4pm - dusk. Your chance to be part of the action! With Active Devon
Stories around the fire 5 - 6pm. Early evening children’s stories, turning darker 8 - 9pm as the sun goes down! With Clive Pigg
Stargazing and natural nightscapes 9pm Mike Cooke /AONB team
Kayak and stand up paddle board 4pm -dusk Special short have-a go sessions with Surfin Sam (£charge)
Beach Crafts and activities 4- 7pm Wild Woods Forest Schools (£charge) and The Shark Trust
Sundowners Parade sunset: Meet at the water’s edge with your lanterns and beach creatures to watch the sun go down and see the fire pictures and lanterns being lit.
AONB / National Trust activities—drop in anytime during daylight!
Beach creatures! Treasure hunt and crafts - search the beach for the treasure, help us make fire screens for after dark and make your own creature for the sundowners parade.
Make a lantern for when the sun drops - bring a clean jam jar if you have one or decorate a bag lantern
