South Devon supports some of the richest marine habitats in Europe

South Devon Marine Conservation Zones consultation open until 31st March

On the 13th December, the Environment Minister - Richard Benyon, announced the start of the public consultation of the first tranche of Marine Conservation Zones.  For us in South Devon, this is the so called “Skerries Bank and surrounds” ‘proposed Marine Conservation Zone’ (pMCZ).

The public consultation runs until midnight on 31 March 2013, and aims to give everyone with an interest in the marine environment the opportunity to provide more evidence on the proposed designation decisions before they are finalised. It may also be used as an opportunity to make some comment on the ‘recommended Marine Conservation Zones (rMCZ) that may be designated in future tranches.

The full consultation suite  includes all of the very detailed reports for all proposed and recommended sites across England. However, For the detail that is most relevant to the South Devon AONB  click here
