The Dart Estuary Quest is a mixture of letterboxing, orienteering, a treasure hunt and a challenge!. It runs from now until 8th September 2014
There are two parts to this free activity which are landscape letterboxes and the Quest Challenges. Hidden in secret locations all around the Lower Dart are ten letterboxes. Using the map and the clues, ‘Questers’ try to track them down and record that they have been clever enough to find it by punching their card with a unique punch. The challenges are a set of activities which can be completed out and about or whilst at home. They are designed to find out what people feel about our estuary.
The Dart Estuary Quest takes place around the lower part of the Dart estuary and there are loads of great ways to get around and explore! You can easily get to all of the Letterbox locations without the use of a car, so turn your Quest into a real adventure by walking, boating, cycling or even taking the steam train!
The main prize is a £200 holiday voucher kindly sponsored by Coast & Country Cottages.
Community projects Officer Nicky Bailey said – “The Dart Estuary Quest will be a fun way to get out and explore our amazing estuary around Dartmouth and Kingswear. It will be in place right through the summer months and will be something that all the family can do together.” Tina Doyle of Coast & Country Cottages said “We’re delighted to support this activity which will help our visitors discover more of the treasures of the Lower Dart close up.”
