Stokeley Farm Shop near Stokenham TQ7 2SH and the South Devon AONB Unit have teamed up to put together an action packed Food Fayre featuring a range of great local producers and demonstrations on Saturday 13th May from 11am – 4pm.
The suppliers will be offering visitors the chance to try before they buy as they taste their way around the event. The range of produce on offer from the local landscape includes, cheese and ice cream, wine, cider and apple juice reflecting the rich dairy and orchard heritage of South Devon. Some exhibitors are well-established businesses and farmers who have diversified and others some are newer producers demonstrating a true entrepreneurial spirit with their pressed oils and ‘mocktails’!
Kate Hadley of Stokeley Farm shop commented “We try and stock as many local foods as possible in the shop given the wonderful larder we have on our doorstep. This event is everyone’s chance to chat to the producers and sample their range as well as enjoying a great family day out at Stokeley.”
In addition to the exhibition there will be a programme of demonstrations includes fish filleting and how to pick a crab with ‘The Salcombe Fish Wife’ Breadmaking with ‘The Bake House’ and Sausage Making courtesy of ‘Ken Durrant Butchers’. Trudy Turrell will be cooking with wholly foraged food and South Hams Brewery will be running a Scratch and Sniff demonstration.
Nicky Bailey South Devon AONBs Communities Officer said. “We are thrilled to be working with Stokeley to showcase the fantastic range of food and drink produced from this special landscape. Not only does it taste great - eating local food saves food miles, protects the existing landscape, and benefits the local economy.”
Entrance to the event is free and there will be arts and crafts activities with local artist Jenny Seear and Children’s Pizza making in the Café. The event flyer gives full details of what’s on when.
